Week 9

Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace
I wish I had finished the DFI before lock-down. I didn't have the skills to provide the learning I knew was possible during that time. The students in my class that found the experience challenging were the ones that need the most support, and still do. They are often lost when trying to access learning online. My big focus is to find away to support them while using our class learning site.

Week 7
Devices
I found the digital dig into Chromebook short cuts very useful. I'm going to use this in my class next week but we might just do a page or two at a time. Then record the shortcut on the board and use it for a few days before learning a new one. About a third of my class know and use them already, so it's just me and the newbies to Manaiakalani.
Loved Fiona's cybersmart dive into being positive on the internet. My students need a bit of this. I will be working on this over the next week.
Screencastify was a bit tricky, however I am really looking forward to using it with my teacher slides.

Week 6
Learning Site
It was very useful looking at other's learning site. So many great ideas and work people are putting into their sites and students. Quite overwhelming, but very inspiring.  My aim today was keep it simple and achievable 😉 There was a lot of very useful information in hub today. I feel like I am more able to take it on board and things are beginning to make sense. I really enjoy making new slides for my learners.

What a fantastic day! I have really enjoyed learning to make a site. The deep dive into multi modal modes was very useful and has me thinking of the way I present information with my class. I have seen the reading resource before and had a go at setting up slide for a deep dive into a reading topic
however I think I like the google site better.

Loved the Sheets workshop today! I can see this will be great for Math with my students and also setting up charts for class trips and gathering information.

I can see using My Maps for Length and Area unit would be a lot of fun. The students could set question for each other and then go and find the answer.

A Great Day 3

My goal from here is to start working with my students on stop motion animation
in google slides. My student have already created characters in google drawings.
Today content was just what I needed to start working with my students.  I'm also
going rip up my learning site and format it in away that reflects me and my class.

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

It was great to go over learn create, share, again. (Ako, Hanga, Tohatoha) and learn a little more about turbocharge learning with using activities or applications ...

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional? It's been great finding out about the different setting for gmail, keep, calendar and tabs. I now think I can customize my google app to my needs. I have also found out more information about Hangout. This is going to very useful over the next months

What did I learn that could be used with my learners? Google Hangout

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life? The calendar and how to managing both personal and professional calendars together. Linking Hangout to the calendar and timetabling a meeting in. 

Day 1

1. What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

I have learned that Manaiakalani began its journey in 2006 with group of like minded schools who could see the power in technology for transforming student achievement. Learn create share is the fundamental pedagogy underpinning the kaupapa.

2. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

I'v changed my thinking around using google and how improve my workflow using file names ,

3.What did I learn that could be used with my learners?  I really enjoyed the scavenger hunt  and can see how making a similar document for my students would be a great way check digital fluency skills

4. What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life? I'v learnt a little more about managing my drive.
